The Library Committee met on March 3rd. The March meeting is usually used to select a winner for the Caffery Competition Award but unfortunately, this year, we didn't have any submissions.
The committee is looking into other ways to promote the competition across campus. The committee also discussed the Library's expenditure's in comparison to other libraries with R1 and R2 status as well as peer institutions. Dean of University Libraries, Dr. Brian Doherty presented reports that he ran that included this information.
Ad Hoc Committee on Underrepresented Groups
This ad hoc committee does not have a charge at this time, so they do not have anything to report.
The underrepresented groups completed their charge in 2014 and have not been given a task since that time.
Results of the 2014 report on correcting discrepancies on salary across campus, has been recognized and in 2021 Admin made those changes in salary.
Ad Hoc Committee on Summer, Intersessions, Overload Faculty Compensation
Committee Members consisted of ones who served back in 2017 and new communicated by E-mail and TEAM. Request for immediate raise for 2022 summer, summer intersession, winter intersession courses compensation/salary was prepared based on 2021 summer tuition (2022 figures are not available). Committee requested for about $400/3-credit class raises for faculty of different ranks. Committee also requested the minimum number of students to hold a course be reduced from 19 to 15. We asked administration to cooperate with us in this regard for adjusting numbers. Members: Dr. Frank Del Favero, Dr. Helen Hurst, Dr. Nathan Rabalais, Dr. James Kimball, and Dr. G.H. Massiha.
