Faculty Senate Committees

Committee on Committees – Jo A DeRouen

  • Whole senate votes on prepared slate for University committees
  • DG preparing slates for those who have more than two nominees, for faculty in those colleges to narrow down

Ways and Means – James Kimball

  • Three policies came through for revisions: Mass evacuation, Sexual Harassment, and Ethics
  • Why isn’t FS part of the approval process when these policies become part of the Faculty Handbook?
  • “Professor of Practice” title is not in the Faculty Handbook. McKinney said he would create a proposal to send to the Senate regarding these job titles

Academic Planning and Development Committee – Kristi Carr

  • No report

Governmental Concerns Committee – Robert Slater

  • Report posted to Moodle
  • President said he would follow up with us on a report on how the CARES money was spent, but this hasn’t happened yet

  • SEI are opened today
  • We are looking hopefully at suggestions for development on SEI regarding different instructional delivery types

General Education – Pearson Cross

  • No report

Distance Learning Leadership Council – F. Crocco

  • More on-campus undergrads taking online courses
  • Online preferred over remote delivery
  • Need for faculty support on Moodle has declined
  • Faculty logged 600,000 hours of Zoom last year
  • Voicethread use has increased as well
  • A number of webinars have been posted
  • Migration to Moodle 3.9 coming soon

  • Nominating Committee – A. Hazelwood
    • Pres: Berkeley; VP: P. Auter, F. Louka; Sec: Rice
    • Templet nominates Auter for President, he accepts
    • Jason Maloy self nominates for VP (Lib Arts)
    • Nominations close (Garrie, Pitre)
    • Each P and VP candidate spoke for 2 minutes on “their vision for greater voice from Faculty Senate”
    • Votes conducted by DG on Moodle Poll (anonymous) by position. Polls opened for 2 minutes each
    • P: Auter 70%, Berkeley 30%
    • VP: Louka 28%, Maloy 72%
  • Dr. Blanca Bauer presentation
    • Bauer posted her full presentation to the Zoom chat
    • A mechanism for feedback from each College will be set up on Moodle
  • GH asking about salary committee. FS ad hoc report is almost complete
