Student Evaluation of Instruction Committee
Senate Report
February 19, 2020

    • SEIs for Term A will be open from Feb. 26 - March 8.

    • Recall that SEI “course” on student Moodle dashboards during Fall 2019 Moodle was not available to students because of an issue of Banner utilizing Office 365 email address format: first.last @louisiana.edu.  Moodle (where the dashboards are connected) utilized the ulid and in some cases the clid email formats.  Hence, SEI Fall 19 reminders to students were sent out manually by course to students the entire duration of the Fall19 SEI period. This issue is believed to have been fixed for this Spring 2020.

    • The link seeking faculty satisfaction feedback was not included in the email sent to faculty with FA19 SEI results.  The SEI committee plans to revisit the current questions (3) at its meeting this spring and send out a separate email for feedback.

    • At the Spring SEI meeting, the committee will discuss designing a specialized SEI questionnaire for courses coded as labs in Banner (ex: BIOL, CHEM)

    • Following the Spring 2020 meeting, the SEI research summary will be sent to Academic Affairs for review and subsequent discussion.  Findings in these five areas will be in the report:

1. Survey Distribution - Best Practices
2. Survey Design - Best Practices
3. Benefits of SEI for Students
4. Use of SEI in Faculty Evaluation AND Improving Quality of Instruction
5. SEI in Distance Education
